Indonesian Rail officials unveiled their latest campaign to try and stamp out train surfing passengers, concrete balls suspended from custom made bridges. Train surfers, also known as Atappers or Roofers are usually fare dodgers or thrill seekers looking to escape the over populated carriages.

A spokesperson for the rail company told the press, “We’ve tried just about everything, even putting rolls of barbed wire on the roof, but nothing seems to work. Maybe this will do it.”

The first set of concrete balls were fitted near a station just outside of the city of Jakarta, but it was later revealed that the fitters had made the chains too short meaning that there was a sizable gap between to top of the train and the concrete balls.

One 27 year old train surfer believes that this new campaign won’t be effective, he said, “They’ve tried everything to keep us from riding, but in the end we always win.”

Rail officials hope that this new campaign will be a success, and if so will be rolled out to other parts of the country.

The couple admitted that during the row, the husband picked up the cat and hurled it at his wife who ducked. The feline flew out of an open window and onto the street below.

The elderly woman, who has been named as Betty, is a former opera singer and coincidently a neighbour of the quarrelling couple. Hospital staff say that she is in critical condition after suffering a suspected fractured skull; the cat however did not survive the incident.

Mrs Paahlsson looked everywhere for the ring, even pulling up the floorboards in her kitchen to no avail, until last October when she was picking her home-grown carrots and noticed that one of them was sparkling.

The ring no longer fits Mrs Paahlsson, but she told the local Swedish press that she plans to get it enlarged. She said, “I had given up hope. Now that I have found the ring again … I want to be able to use it”.

Craig Glenday from the Guinness World Records told the press, “Guinness World Records Day is a chance to celebrate not just incredible individual achievements but also civic and national pride – whether it’s the Irish bringing together leprechauns, the Brits serving up cream teas or the Americans performing a mass soul train dance”.

All of the records set on the Guinness World Records Day 2011 will be examined carefully for inclusion into next year’s edition of the book.

The man managed to grab his money from the irritated snake and called the police. Police tried to release the snake with the help of the banks manager, but soon found out that it was caught on the machines mechanics. The bank manager turned off the machine and lifted the mechanism to release the snake, which was then taken to a local animal shelter.

A police spokesman said that they have not ruled out the possibility that the snake was placed in the machine as a prank, but also concluded that the snake could have climbed in there on its own.

Blackbeard and his pirate crews operated throughout the West Indies and the east coast of America. The cannon was recovered out of just 25ft of water off the coast of North Carolina, and is being led by the Department of Cultural Resources.

All in all 12 cannons have been recovered from the site that was discovered in 1996 by Florida based Intersal Inc. The projects head conservator Sarah Watkins-Kenney said, “Four cannons were all found to be loaded, with cannon shot and wads in place ready to be fired.”

Other artefacts have also been recovered including shackles and some of the ships rigging.

Golfers at the course regularly see the bullsharks fins poking through the water and it has become somewhat of a tourist attraction with players from near and far wanting to play on the course. The golf course even has a monthly tournament dedicated to the sharks, called the Shark Lake Challenge.

Carbrook Golf Course’s manager Scott Wagstaff told the press; “You can’t believe how close you are…just six feet away”. Adding that, “There’s no drama, it’s become a positive thing for the golf course. They are amazing. I’ve become a shark lover since working here.”

The accident held up traffic for several hours in the city, with one firefighter saying, “You always get a few who want to sneak a bottle or two from a crash but there’s broken glass everywhere and it’s really very dangerous because the rest of the load could fall at any time”.

Adding that; “You might love a beer but you wouldn’t want to be buried under a landslide of it”.

Lawyers for the 42 year old defendant said that the woman was in a relationship with the man and argued that her actions were not excessive; the man denies that they were in a relationship.

Police raided the woman’s home in Rotterdam, Holland and found a number of laptops and mobile phones.
The woman was bailed at the preliminary hearing, but within hours had contacted the man again so was remanded in custody. A new hearing date has not yet been set.

The boots feature an electroluminescent sole and light up Nike badge on the tongue. Nike will be auctioning 150 pairs of boots a day on eBay for 10 days, with the proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation which is researching for a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.
