This morning Sir Bobby Robson lost his long battle with cancer.
A family statement released this morning said

“”It is with great sadness that it has been announced today that Sir Bobby Robson has lost his long and courageous battle with cancer.”

He sadly passed away peacefully this morning at his home in the north east.

Aged 76, bobby has been fighting cancer since 1991, he has managed some great football teams over his career including Porto, Barcelona and of course England, when he took them to the 1990 World Cup semi-final where they famously lost on penaties.

Many who have won tickets through a lottery to the Michael Jackson Memorial service are trying to sell them through online auctions such as EBay. EBay told the BBC that they would not permit listings of the Jackson Memorial tickets on their site.  EBay has stated that they would try to remove any listings as soon as they appeared and think that such sales are “inappropriate”.

Some auctions for the tickets have already attracted offers of as much as £15,000 before being pulled by EBay. Fans that continually support Jackson have been outraged by the sale of the tickets online and have bid up the tickets to high level sums such as £62m.

Craigslist has also being targeted for ticket sales and advertisements were soon highlighted by users for removal.

The estimation is that over 1.6 million people made an application to the online lottery for the Michael Jackson Memorial Service which is taking place in the Staples Centre based in Los Angeles. Organisers of the Jackson event (AEG Live) put 17,500 free tickets online via email and people had until 6pm last night to pick up the passes.

The Jackson Memorial will be streamed live by the BBC in the UK and on the 5 main US television networks. The timing for the event is 10am Pacific Coast time and could be one of the largest events in Internet history.  Google news has already seen such huge numbers of enquiries about the Jackson Memorial Service at one point it thought it was under attack.

US pop singer Katy Perry picked up an award at The NRJ music awards for Best International Song, only to be told it was a mistake and Rihanna was meant to win it. The NRJ music awards is France’s biggest music award ceremony, and was attended by a wide range of international stars.

The blunder was admitted by host, Nikos Aliagas after the show. He said: “We are terribly sorry, but we made a mistake. It wasn’t Katy Perry who was supposed to pick up the Best International Song, but Rihanna with ‘Disturbia’. We hope Rihanna and Katy Perry won’t be too upset and we apologise for all the fans who voted for them. The wrong name was put in the envelope”.

However, Katy Perry is unlikely to be too upset, as she did win an award for the Best International Album for her debut album ‘One of the Boys’. Other winners included Britney Spears for Best International Female Artist and Enrique Iglesias won the International Male Artist prize.

Legendary pop star Madonna has paid Guy Ritchie over £50 million as part of their divorce settlement it was revealed today. The pop stars spokesperson Liz Rosenberg said that the settlement included the value of the couple’s multi-million pound house in Ashcombe, Wiltshire.

She went on to say that the financial side of the divorce had been settled, but custody of the children was still to be finalised.

The couple, who wed in December 2000, were granted a divorce at the High Court in London. The divorce was made public last month and at the time Guy Ritchie told press that the break up was “never, ever about money”.

Madonna’s £50 million plus payout is set to be the biggest from a female celebrity, and is far bigger than the £24.3 million Heather Mills received from divorcing Sir Paul McCartney a few months ago.

Russell Brand toady resigned from his radio show, after a barrage of complaints following a prank phone call to actor Andrew Sachs. Brand and fellow presenter Jonathan Ross made a series of calls during a Radio 2 Show, in which they left obscene answer phone messages on Mr Sachs phone about his granddaughter Georgina Baillie.

Earlier this week, both Brand and Ross were suspended by the BBC and all of their shows taken off the air as the BBC start a full investigation. There have been over 27,000 complaints to the BBC about the incident, which was part of Russell Brand’s Radio 2 show that was pre-recorded and aired on the 16th October.

In a statement released by Brand, he said he took “complete responsibility” for the incident and that he was resigning from the show.

In a separate statement, Jonathan Ross said “I am deeply sorry and greatly regret the upset and distress that my juvenile and thoughtless remarks on the Russell Brand show have caused.”

Jonathan Ross was supposed to pre-record his BBC One Friday Night TV show yesterday, but due to the suspension no filming was done. Amongst the guests booked for the show was comedian Frank Skinner, Sir David Attenborough and indie band The Killers. It is not yet known what will be shown in its place.

Jade Goody who has finally gone back home after the shocking news that she has cancer. Jade was on the Indian version of the Big Brother show when she was told that she had cancer. The scene at Heathrow Airport was not pleasant when Jane burst into tears after being greeted by a group of photographers. It’s thought that Jade will now try to avoid the public spotlight for obvious reasons.

The Mumbai Big Brother show saw Jade in the diary room when the news of Cancer was broken. Jade heard the news from her UK consultant via telephone.
